Stoke City Away 30th November 2019
The only stoke needed on a minus 5 degree Saturday morning was to the living room fire. 100 Club members are made of sterner stuff and 43 of these brave souls boarded the coach at a frozen Ewood Park for the trip to Stoke City.
Anticipation of victory was high following two back to back home wins but there was the nagging doubt that each game had been played with different team selections, a Mowbray trait that baffles. Was this going to be the day that the team that beat Brentford on Wednesday would be the same at the Bet 365 Stadium, or was this the day that Ben Brererton would be released from his job of painting the dressing rooms to star as a goal scoring centre forward. We would have to wait.
Betting was high on the way with Andy and Mel getting positive wagers on a winning result. Lunch was eaten at the Wilbraham Arms Alsager where the food was excellent. The steak pie was so large it had Desperate Dan cow horns. Dave Walton our football sage confirmed the unexpected news that Mowbray had picked the same team and this same team played extremely well with Dack scoring first for Rovers, then for Stoke, then supersub Gallagher slamming in the winner in the dying minutes of the game. Play offs anyone???
