100 Club Sponsors Academy Bus

Stuart Jones has paid thanks to the Blackburn Rovers 100 Club after their latest generous donation.

Members of the 100 Club presented Rovers’ Head of Academy with a cheque for £15,000 at the final day fixture against Swansea City at Ewood Park.

The significant sum of money has been put towards a new minibus, which will be used to support the Academy’s day release programme, as well as the Under-18s match schedule.

Formed in the 1970s, the 100 Club has been intrinsically linked to the football club for over 40 years, developing a close relationship with the Academy and supporting the club’s young stars of the future through a series of donations totalling over £250,000.

Stuart Jones, who received the cheque from 100 Club chairman Dave Hembrough, said: “The 100 Club have been really supportive of the Academy over many years.

“This latest donation has been put towards the new minibus, which is a massive part of our day-to-day operation for transporting the Under-18s and players on day release, so it’s hugely beneficial for us.

“The day release programme is a huge operation. Three days in the week, we have players who come out of school and we transport them in from places like Liverpool, Manchester and Yorkshire, and then take them home.

“And then at the weekend, the Under-18s and the Under-16s utilise the transport for matches, so we’d be lost without it.”
