The Racecourse ground

Dull and damp as we left Ewood at 9:15 for our second 100 Club away trip of the season. The usual banter on the coach had us believing a win was on the way as the blues have performed better away from Ewood this season, so hope was in the air. The latest rumour from the unknown sage of Rovers knowledge was that Todd Cantwell is not really injured but, if he plays one more game then the Rovers will have to pay Rangers an extra fee on top of his transfer fee, plus his wages would rise accordingly so the Venky’s will be selling him in January to avoid these payments. It could be true as Rovers defy logic sometimes. Betting went well with Andy and James busy collecting wagers but were both staggered as was the coach when Peter Benson put £5 on Gueye scoring first (a joke he explained) but said he would donate his winnings to the 100 club if this miracle happened. The rate that Ismael changes the players he puts out made it hard for Mystic Dave Walton to forecast the team, in fact we were nearly at the Racecourse Ground before the ethereal message got to him. An excellent lunch was had at the Cross Foxes at Erbistock on the banks of the River Dee. Our meal scout Mel did us proud again. Digital tickets were demanded by Wrexham and were dutifully sent to our phones, but they only worked on iPhones and not Androids, so it was chaotic at the turnstiles. However, this aside the Rovers played magnificently and were one up at half time with a beautiful header from Gudjohnson leaving us salivating for more in the second half. That certainly didn’t happen as the Rovers went into defend and hold the lead mode and Wrexham battered us until a very bad decision was made by the linesman and Wrexham scored from the free kick. It always seems to happen when Ismael makes his usual late substitutions that baffles fans. Peter Bensons £5 had disappeared in a flash when Gudjohnson scored first, but when Gueye came on as substitute it was obvious his bet would not have paid out as he is the only footballer that is magnificent, without the ball.
